3 Mistakes Stalling Your Online Business

There are three mistakes almost every online entrepreneur makes that stall their online business, many times before they even launch.

I’m going to show you what they are and what the successful online entrepreneurs do instead. Be sure to stay until the end because the last tip will save you months of time and effort building your online business.

So here’s the three mistakes most people make.

DIY, Learning, and Multitasking

You wake up early and stay up late, spending 95% of your time trying to do everything yourself. When you get stuck, you buy a $997 course or program and spend yet more precious time trying to diy. And you also try to DIY all the areas of your business at the same time, like tech content and marketing.

Trying to bootstrap and diy everything in your business results in lower quality and pushes your first profitable months further out into the future. Taking a course or two on critical topics like Facebook ads doesn’t make you a proficient advertiser. Your ads will be much more costly than an experienced ad manager.

The DIY Trap

When you try to DIY tech content marketing, sales, and support all at the same time, none of them get done well or quickly. I call this the DIY trap. Look at successful online entrepreneurs like Pat Flynn, Amy Porterfield, or James Wedmore. None of them are spending time and money learning the vertical or tactical skills an online business needs.

Who NOT How

They ask who already has the knowledge and expertise, not how can I learn and do it myself. They assemble or leverage a team with those skills and experience. They stay focused in their zone of genius, the areas they’re experts in, and set the direction of their teams, which handle the rest. So how do you do this?

How do you break out of the DIY trap? Especially if you don’t have the budget or a large team like they do? I have a three part framework for exactly how.

Fractional Team

First is leveraging a shared or fractional team. Instead of hiring and managing a team of five to 10 full-time resources, you instead invest in a fractional team where you get part-time access to all the skills and resources you need at a fraction of the price of the full-time team.

Managed Tech Platform

Second is leveraging a shared and managed technical platform. Instead of trying to learn and integrate 15 different tools yourself, or accepting the compromise of the all-in-one tools, which are masters of none, there is an alternative. There are managed platforms which have the best of breed pieces already integrated and ready to go along with end-to-end support.

These make it so you never have to learn or struggle with tech.

Pre-existing Systems and Processes

Third is leveraging proven pre-existing systems, processes, and procedures. Having a great team is great, but if you don’t have documented all the things you want ’em to do, they’ll sit idle. At the same time, it takes months to figure out and document processes and procedures. But most of these already exist, and if you can tap into those vaults of preexisting and proven systems and processes, you save all that time and your fractional team can be productive on day.

So let me ask you, do you wanna stay stuck in the DIY trap with a stalled online business and a to-do list that stretches farther than the I can see? Or are you ready to take the path that the successful seven and eight figure online entrepreneurs take, but in a fractional model that’s feasible for your business?
